Tendercut is a highly detailed oil painting exploring the beauty found in decay. The close-up composition captures a piece of bruised, rotting meat, focusing on its deep tones, shifting colours and raw, organic textures. I wanted to draw attention to the stages of deterioration that we would normally find unpleasant or look away from, instead highlighting the strange beauty within the bruising, discolouration and changing surface of the meat.
